As we celebrate Careers in Aging Week (April 18-24, 2021), we’d like to share the story of Luthercare team member Diane Hay, who has built her career in the field of aging services and long-term care.
Diane joined the Luther Acres Dining Services team in 2001 as a high school student who wanted to see more of her grandparents, who had moved to the Lititz campus. Twenty years later, Diane has held several positions – from server to dining room coordinator to administrative assistant at the Luther Acres Muhlenberg Building – and is now the Move-In Coordinator in the Marketing Department.
In her current role, Diane works with individuals who are in the process of moving into apartments and cottages at Luther Acres, making sure their transition to their new home is as smooth as possible.
“I like a challenge, and each role that I have had here at Luther Acres has been a different opportunity to learn and grow. I’m grateful for the opportunities that I’ve been given with Luthercare to show my flexibility. And over the past 20 years, I’ve loved seeing my grandparents while also growing closer to other campus residents. Many truly feel like family!” Diane says.
Diane joined the Marketing Team as Move-In Coordinator in early 2020. While the pandemic impacted our communities in many ways, new residents continued to move to our Independent Living apartments and cottages. Diane, who describes herself as detail-oriented, ensures the residences are properly completed for the new residents. She assists them in selecting finishes and overseeing upgrade requests, while also meeting with contractors who are doing the renovations.
“I get see the progress in the future resident’s apartment or cottage and report back to them, and facilitate the final walk-through process, making sure everything was finished as they requested. It’s really neat to see the process in action,” Diane says.
Thank you, Diane, for providing a supportive hand to our incoming residents!
