Barb Berrier has spent 42 years working in the senior living industry. Starting at age 15, Barb worked as a dishwasher in another local retirement community before becoming a Certified Nursing Assistant, then a Licensed Practical Nurse, and eventually an LPN Supervisor, the role she currently holds in the close-knit Personal Care community at St. John’s Herr Estate, our Luthercare community in Columbia. As an LPN Supervisor, Barb is in charge of administering medications, handling doctors’ orders, assisting with patient care by helping aides, and overseeing general healthcare operations. Having been in the industry for so long, Barb brings a lot of experience to the table as she has training to work in both Skilled Nursing and Personal Care environments. “As I grew, each step I took, there was something that I was able to bring to my job today,” Barb said.
Even in her time at Luthercare, Barb has grown and changed. Starting in 2011, Barb served as a third shift LPN Supervisor in Personal Care. After 4 years of service Barb wanted a change in her schedule, but there were no open positions in the shift she wanted, so she sought work elsewhere before rejoining the team again in 2019. “I felt like I was out of place when I left,” Barb said. “I’m comfortable here, and the residents and coworkers are why I wanted to come back.”
We’re so glad you’re a part of our team, and thank you for all your hard work, Barb!
