Spang Crest, our Luthercare community in Lebanon, is in the process of lifting some restrictions on visitation to its Healthcare Center and Personal Care Community. This new visitation procedure will go into effect on Monday, August 17. We are dedicated to ensuring that our residents can safely welcome visitors and begin to resume more normal routines, while also implementing careful measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Details about the new visitation procedure and a copy of our Reopening Implementation Plan, as required by the Pennsylvania Department of Health and Pennsylvania Department of Human Services, is available below.
Luthercare continues to adhere to strict protocols and continues taking aggressive measures to protect our communities from exposure to COVID-19. Luthercare is adhering to the CDC’s Infection Prevention and Control Recommendations for Patients with Suspected or Confirmed Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Healthcare Settings. We are working closely with our medical director and following the guidelines of the Centers for Disease Control, Pennsylvania Department of Health and Department of Human Services, and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. Our top priority remains the health, safety and well-being of our residents and team members.
As the potential for exposure to the virus remains, we urge our residents, families and the greater community to continue to be vigilant. The population we serve are the most vulnerable to viruses such as COVID-19. Please continue to practice social distancing, wash your hands frequently, and wear a mask when you are in public.
For visitation at Spang Crest, all family members will be receiving a phone call from a Spang Crest team member to reserve a visitation time. Please do not call the building as we are doing our best to schedule everyone in a timely fashion. Each visit is to last no more than 30 minutes, and no more than two visitors per resident are permitted, with a maximum of one session per week per resident initially. At this time, there will be no children under age 18 and no pets. Visitors must enter the building at the main entrance facing Duke Street. Upon arrival, visitors are required to go through a screening process, including a temperature check and questionnaire. All visitors are required to wear a surgical mask, maintain a minimum of six feet of physical distance, and sanitize their hands before and after each visit.
Visiting hours will be held Tuesday through Friday as follows:
• Tuesday, Personal Care, from 10:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
• Wednesday, First Floor, 10:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
• Thursday, Second Floor, 10:00 a.m – 4:30 p.m.
• Friday, Third Floor, 10:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Visits will be scheduled in four locations: Main Dining Room Patio (Personal Care only), Main Entrance, Ambulance Entrance and Gathering Place. In the event of inclement weather, indoor accommodations will be utilized. Outside patio tables and chairs will be set up in advance of each visit to maintain a six-foot distance between resident and guest(s). Disinfecting and sanitizing of the visitation areas will occur after each visit.

As a reminder, when visitors arrive to Spang Crest, there are directional signs in place to assist you in finding the screening station to check in. And as always, we encourage families and residents to communicate regularly through phone calls, texts, video chats, and other virtual means. We have team members who can walk you through the process.
