Angela Ramos’ interest in healthcare started after high school, when she enrolled in a program at a local hospital that introduced her to nursing work in the operating and emergency rooms. There, she received her first hands-on experience helping patients with basic hygiene, assisting with transports, documenting vitals, and other duties. Along the way, she developed new skills by working as an anesthesia technician, gaining many certifications, becoming a licensed Certified Nursing Assistant, and earning an associate degree in business.
Angela left the hospital setting in search of opportunities to build more relationships — which she found in senior home care. After helping older adults in their homes as a CNA, she decided that she wanted to be a part of managing care and joined a non-medical home care agency as a scheduler, serving as a liaison between clients, families, and the agency. Within a year, Angela’s hard work earned her a promotion to the director of operations for their York, PA, location. Over the next four years, she would be promoted to the role of office manager for the entire organization and then to director of operations for the organization. Then, after several years and driven by a desire to chart her own path, Angela chose to use her experience to start her own home care agency, which she operated for a couple of years.
All the while, she continued to grow professionally with impressive academic achievements, including earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Business from Central Penn College, a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) from Messiah University, and most recently, her licensure as a Personal Care Home Administrator. “Once I’m onto something, I’m taking off. There’s no stopping me,” Angela says.
Angela channels her adeptness in business and leadership, along with her healthcare experience, into her current role at St. John’s Herr Estate – a Luthercare community in Columbia, PA. As Personal Care Manager, Angela guides her team to provide the 40 residents within the community with an individualized, supportive, and caring experience. While overseeing operations involves a large variety of tasks, Angela approaches it with a commitment to excellence, and fosters a culture of growth among her team. “The team that I’m leading here is amazing. They’re the best,” she says.
Angela’s journey is a testament to her dedication and passion for making a difference in the lives of others. “I knew I wanted to make a huge impact on whoever I came across moving forward. It’s always been, ‘What can I do better?’ ” she says. At Luthercare, we’re thankful for Angela’s commitment to excellence and excited to support her as she continues to grow, learn, and lead.
