The safety and health of our residents and team members is our top priority after a staff member at Luther Acres Healthcare Center tested positive for COVID-19. The team member works in the Healthcare Center’s secured memory care unit. The employee was screened before and at the completion of shift on April 7th and had no symptoms at that time. The employee stated that symptoms began upon returning home. The team member contacted a physician and was directed to go to a COVID-19 testing center on Wednesday, April 8th. The employee received a positive test result today and notified Luther Acres. Luthercare had been and continues taking aggressive measures to protect residents and team members from exposure.
Luther Acres has notified the Pennsylvania Department of Health. Our Infection Control Team is working with the employee to identify residents and staff who may be directly impacted. We are adhering to the CDC’s Infection Prevention and Control Recommendations for Patients with Suspected or Confirmed Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Healthcare Settings.
Luthercare has taken many careful measures to ensure the health and safety of our residents and team members. We are working closely with our medical director and following the guidelines of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Pennsylvania Department of Health, and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.
