Residents of Luther Acres, the Luthercare community in Lititz, have been working for months to prepare items for the upcoming Holiday Bazaar. Please plan to join us for a fun day of shopping that benefits the Luthercare Caring Fund, which supports benevolent care for residents. This year, the event will be held on Saturday, November 18, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Community Room of the Luther Acres Towne Center at 250 St. Luke Drive, Lititz. Shoppers will be able to pay for their purchases via cash or check.
The bazaar will feature artisan vendors selling a variety of items, including pottery; handwoven baskets; ornaments and bows; hand-painted placemats, aprons, t-shirts, and Christmas stockings; Christmas-themed Ukrainian eggs; greeting cards, quilling, and book folding; memory bears, and much more. Luther Acres residents have also created many items for sale, including handcrafted cards and gifts, wooden items, Christmas items, knitted and crocheted items, baked goods, and more.
Two highlights of this year’s bazaar include the raffle of a king size quilt made by a Luther Acres resident and the sale of a large selection of wooden caricatures in various sizes, which were hand-carved by a Luther Acres resident. The beautiful quilt, featuring the “Boston Commons” design that incorporates shades of blues and grays, is 96 inches x 108 inches, and the top is comprised of 896 three-inch pieces. Ticket prices for the quilt raffle will be two for $5.00 or $10.00 for an arm’s length. The raffle drawing will be held at 1:30 p.m.
There will also be an array of donated jewelry, attic treasure items, and Christmas decorations for sale.
Before shopping at the bazaar, guests can enjoy a delicious pancake breakfast in Katy’s Grill, a campus restaurant in the Luther Acres Towne Center, from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. The breakfast features two pancakes, two sausage links, juice, coffee, and tea for $8.00 (cash only) and benefits the Luthercare Resident Caring Fund.
Preparing for the sale and pancake breakfast takes a lot of planning, organizing, and coordinating on behalf of the Luther Acres residents, and they are excited to welcome the public to this fund-raising endeavor. All proceeds from the bazaar are directed to the Caring Fund, which supports benevolent care for Luther Acres residents.
