Luther Acres, a Luthercare community, 600 E. Main St., Lititz, is offering a variety of courses for its Spring 2019 “reDiscover A World of Possibilities” program. The courses are one day a week, and some cover a four-week period. All are open to the greater community. Most courses are held on the Luther Acres campus and have varying fees for campus residents and non-residents; some courses are free to attend. The purpose of the “reDiscover” program is to provide an opportunity to learn new things, be creative, enrich minds and have fun!
The courses for Spring 2019 are:
- “Together They Made the Modern American Presidency: FDR to George W. Bush” – Retired Lampeter-Strasburg School District Superintendent Robert Frick returns to present the next three sessions in his series. This is an apolitical presentation as researched by the presenter on the leadership style of the 12 men considered by historians as the modern-day presidents. The sessions are: Wednesdays, May 1, 8 and 29, from 2:00-3:00 p.m.
- “Back Pain & Posture Clinic” – Join the Luther Acres Physical Therapy Department to learn about back pain and how you can reduce the pain and improve your posture. The first session is an interactive lecture, and the second session includes a clinic to screen your overall posture and identify your spinal integrity. Sessions are: Wednesdays, May 8 and 15, at 2:00 p.m.
- “Sensational Salads!” – Join Chef Mark Hoffman from FLIK Lifestyles, Luthercare’s culinary partner, as he creates a variety of delicious salads in honor of National Salad Month. Attendees will receive the recipes and enjoy a taste of the finished product. Sessions are: Thursdays, May 9, 16, 23 and 30, from 2:30-3:30 p.m.
- “Financial Concerns & Education” – Presenter Anthony DeCicco, a financial advisor with Edward Jones, will lead presentations on a variety of topics, including how to outsmart scammers, how to budget for retirement expenses, and a look at fixed income investments. Sessions are: Thursdays, May 2, 16, 23 and June 6.
