Thanks to a local printing and sign production company, Luthercare is providing plastic face shields as an extra level of protection for our frontline healthcare team members.
The H&H Group, in Lancaster, reached out to Luthercare a few weeks ago to inform us that they were adding plastic face shields to their product line. We ordered and received 100 shields for our dedicated team who will be caring for residents who are under COVID-19 isolation precautions. The face shields provide full face coverage.
“We are really pleased that H&H reached out to us. Personal protective equipment is in such high demand, and this level of protection is backordered and difficult to obtain without a lengthy wait,” said Matt Oathout, Luthercare’s Senior Vice President of Operations.
The shields are a way for The H&H Group to pivot their business and begin offering a much-needed product in the fight against the coronavirus. The H&H Group President Mary Kohler said as business started to slow, one of her employees learned about a sign printer in the Mid-West who had begun using their equipment to make plastic face shields. H&H did some research, found a template that they thought they could produce, and then began immediately searching for the materials (plastic, foam strips and elastic) to begin making prototypes.
“We are pleased to be able to respond to the needs of local healthcare providers, nursing homes and essential workers by offering the protective face shields,” Kohler said, also adding that she is grateful to Dart Container for donating some of the plastic used for the shields.
Thank you, H&H Group, for your innovation!
