Dear Residents, Families, Team Members, Partners and Friends,
During this unprecedented time, I am grateful for the support, understanding and cooperation happening across our senior living communities and early learning centers. Luthercare’s priority will always be the health and safety of our residents, families and team members. We are very proud of our dedicated team members who recognize the importance of the exceptional care we give, which is reflected in our 5-Star ratings from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.
We began to monitor the spread of the coronavirus from its early days, and with this advanced planning, had our corporate pandemic response plan under review and in action as the situation began to unfold. Luthercare leaders continue to work closely with our medical directors and are following all current guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Pennsylvania Department of Health, and local health systems.
Following these guidelines, we have restricted all visitors to our campuses and are screening team members prior to and at the end of each shift, including completing a medical questionnaire and taking their temperature. Per Governor Wolf’s recommendations, we have reduced our non-essential staff, deploying them to work from home at this time. Please be patient as we all adjust to this new way of doing business and recognize that it may take additional time to respond to some of your requests.
You will notice we have also added signs to our community entrances to restrict non-residents from entering and from walking, biking or driving through our campuses, unless absolutely necessary. These measures and policies have been put into place to protect you, your family members, friends and loved ones. We request you make arrangements with staff for any deliveries of groceries, toiletries and other items.
Communal dining in our campus restaurants and dining rooms have been put on hold. Our dining staff is offering a variety of meal delivery options to our residents, ensuring that they continue to receive nutritious, healthy meals, snacks and other essentials.
I am very pleased with our residents’ cooperation and support as we implement these many necessary inconveniences. Our team members are finding ways to keep residents connected to their loved ones, and we’re thankful that today’s technology makes this possible! To see what’s happening within our communities, please follow Luthercare and Luthercare for Kids on Facebook and Instagram. Keep smiling, stay positive, and let us know how you are doing! We would love to share your stories, photos and videos.
Remember, practicing social distancing, proper hygiene (hand washing, elbow sneezing/coughing, hand sanitizing, no hand-shaking, etc.), and staying home when you don’t feel well will get us through this pandemic as best and as quickly as possible.
You are all in our thoughts and prayers, and we ask the same!
In Service,
Carl R. McAloose,
President & CEO
